For teachers to be able to handle the changes in
technology they should begin to learn the new technology when it comes out,
rather than when they get the technology in their classroom. This will make the
teacher feel more comfortable when using the technology with the students.
I personally would ask fellow co- workers for help with
technology when I do not understand it. If I do not understand it after that I
may ask the students to do a presentation on how to work the technology so they
can learn about while I learn about it.

ReplyDeleteI think that you have a smart way of going about learning about new technology. Having the students do presentations and learn about it as you learn about it is such a smart and innovative approach. I agree that technology changes so fast nowadays, in a matter of a few years a computer is outdated. Learning about the technology as it comes out is a good approach, that way you're not struggling to catch up once it's implemented in the classroom. It's always good to stay on top of new things in the field of education, it helps to give you a heads up on whats going on. Especially since the field of education is constantly expanding and changing as we learn and grow.
Ashley, I definitely agree with you when you say that teachers have a hard time keeping up with the ever changing technology. It is fascinating to look back and see how much technology has changed in such a short amount of time and then to also think about how it will change in the future. While I think that technology can be a great asset to education, it is important to not become too reliant and always have a back up plan just in case something were to malfunction.
ReplyDeleteAshley, I really love what you had to say about learning new technology. It is not easy but we have to manage some way to do it anyway. I agree that it is interesting to see how much technology has changed over time. I agree that back up plans are always a good idea.

ReplyDeleteI thought it was interesting how you brought up the point about the students sometimes knowing more than the teachers. This can be a definite hurdle in class, but it can also be an opportunity for the teacher to get up to speed with what the technological world is doing. I think some teachers today need to spend more time developing their knowledge of the things changing in educational technology instead of just brushing it off as something they do not need.
